Kwendy’s Chipotle Hot Sauce

For Christmas this year Wendy and I (aka ‘KWendy’) made homemade Chipotle Hot Sauce, as a gift for some friends and family. It came out really good, we love it. Our recipe is included below in case you are interested. To bump up the presentation a little, I put my design skills into these labels for it.

Kwendy’s Chipotle Hot Sauce Label

The finished label has two versions:

To come up with ideas for the label, I spent a few minutes looking online at real hot sauce labels. From my research I came up with a few basic elements, mainly the pepper illustration and wood background that I wanted to include in the design. With those elements in hand I went to town in Photoshop to pull it all together. I removed the dried pepper from the illustration, and gave the upper 1/2 of the wood a burnt effect. Then put it all together.

If you want to try it here our recipe. It pretty simple but really really good.

Ingredients:

  • 2, 7oz cans of Embasa Chipotle Peppers In Adobo Sauce
  • 2oz Balsamic vinegar
  • 10oz White vinegar

Put all of the ingredients in the food processor.  Use the full can of  chipotle peppers including the seeds and all of the adobe sauce. Run the food processor until everything is liquefied, including the seeds.
